Welcoming signs

altWelcoming signs to entrances of Ashton, Bonnievale, McGregor, Montagu and Robertson has been erected. The signs were approved by Provincial Administration and adhere to strict specifications and regulations regarding signage.

The Municipality has for a period of time felt the urge to welcome tourists into our beautiful area and are currently in the process of erecting these welcoming signs. All stores and businesses have signs at their entrances to inform visitors of the name of the store and to welcome them. However, this has been missing for a long time and visitors and residence of the Langeberg Municipal areas will now be welcomed.

The branding of a specific product plays an important role in the marketing and selling of that product. The same is applicable within the tourism sector, where town names have become synonymous with unique products, for example; a special Merlot from Robertson or dried fruit from Montagu. Many of our tourists entering our towns are actually not aware of the name of the town, the name of the municipality or of the municipal logo.

In some of the towns "Welcome Walls" were erected but these walls do not depict the name or logo of the Municipality.

Further, it is important that visitors recognise and associate with our logo and name. It is for this reason that the Langeberg Municipality is in the process of erecting Welcome Signs at all the main entrances to all the towns within the municipal area. These signs depict the name of the town, municipality's name and logo.

It is truly the intention of the Municipality to warmly welcome all visitors, both local and international, to our beautiful valley and at the same time to introduce them to the names of all the towns, municipality's name and logo.

Welkom tekens

Mountain signs

Montagu Mountain Reserve is also getting a facelift as it shows signs of deterioration. Despite the replacement of old and damaged signs, additional signs will also be introduced. More than 28 signs in total will be erected throughout the Reserve. The replacement and upgrading of signage forms part of the Montagu Mountain Reserve's Action Plan in collaboration with the Municipality.

To accommodate dog owners a new designated dog area has been established at the entrance to Lovers Walk. We would kindly like to request dog owners to adhere to signage, stay within designated areas and please scoop up after your dog.

The aim of the Mountain Reserve is the conservation and management of the area, as part of an integrated system to maintain biodiversity and ecological processes, to be enjoyed by the public in a responsible manner.

The objective is to create an unique, well managed wilderness destination for tourists, thereby increasing visitor numbers and ultimately benefitting the poorest of the poor by means of local economic growth and job creation.

The designing of signs for the Dassieshoek Mountain Reserve (Arangies Kop Hiking Trail) is currently underway and will also be upgraded soon.

Berg tekens

Montagu Bergreservaat sal eersdaags meer as 28 nuwe toerisme tekens kry.
