To prevent load shedding Eskom requested the Langeberg Municipality to ask their consumers to reduce their electricity usage from 17:00 to 20:00 today until 20th January 2012 due to a shortage in supply capacity.
The situation is expected to continue next week when more factories reopen after the holidays.

Eskom is busy with annual maintenance on three power stations and some functional generators went faulty. The faulty generators and increasing demand after the summer holidays caused the shortage in supply capacity.

Eskom het Langberg Munisipaliteit kennis gegee van ‘n tekort in hul elektrisiteitstoevoer kapasiteit weens foutiewe kragopwekkers en ‘n toenemende vraag na elektrisiteit na die somer vakansie.

Om beurt krag te voorkom het Eskom die Langeberg Munisipaliteit versoek om hul verbruikers te vra om hul elektrisiteitsverbruik te verminder tussen 17:00 en 20:00 vanaf vandag tot die 20ste Januarie 2012 weens ‘n tekort in toevoer kapasiteit.
Daar word verwag dat die situasie sal voortduur wanneer nog fabrieke na die vakansie sal heropen.

Eskom is tans besig met jaarlikse onderhoud op drie van hul kragstasies. Die foutiewe kragopwekkers en toenemende vraag na elektrisiteit na die somer vakansie het die tekort in toevoer kapasiteit veroorsaak.
