“It was a show to remember!”
So says Peter Salman, Manager: Local Economic Development at the Langeberg Municipality, after successfully hosting a captivating talent show at the Nkqubela Community Hall in Robertson.
More than 100 guests, mostly children from various schools in Robertson, attended the event on 10 March (2015) to support the performers and enjoy the local talent on stage.
The municipality aims to create a platform where local artists can express themselves in front of large scale audiences in order to improve their performances, gain real-time experience and discover their talents through live performances. The programme also focuses on promoting Local Economic Development and Tourism in the Langeberg region through showcasing its local talent.
Performances on the day included the following groups: the Gumboot Dancers, the Drummer Boys, the Hip Hop Group from the New Generation Arts and Development Studio, Abahlo Be Tahla Lencwadi Traditional Dance group, the Khoisan riel dancers group, the Langeberg Mixed Drama group and Praise singing by Septimus Sogiba.
Salman mentioned that the community can be proud of these talented performers and encouraged all residents to “support the youth and motivate them to participate in all Arts and Culture initiatives in the region.”
