The Langeberg Municipal Council has made the decision to cancel the annual Christmas lights ceremony for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“For the safety of our residents, we will abstain from events that draw large crowds. We encourage households to have their own Christmas lights ceremony, by switching on Christmas lights in their doorways, gardens or windows during the festive season. This will allow us to continue our tradition and unite in the celebration of Christmas safely,” said ALD SW van Eeden, Executive Mayor of Langeberg Municipality.

Even though the event has been cancelled, the Christmas lights in the roads of each town will still be switched on.
