MONTAGU MOUNTAIN RESERVE (JOUBERT PARK) WILL REMAIN CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

The Montagu Mountain Reserve (Joubert Park) will remain closed to the public until further notice. This is due to damages experienced during the September floods. The 2 hiking trails that were severely damaged are Badskloof Hiking trail and Bloupunt Hiking Trail and therefore will also remain closed.

Hikers are advised to use the alternative hiking trails listed below:

  • Cogmanskloof hiking trail (contour path in Piet se Pat)
  • Kanonkop hiking trail up to Springs
  • Aasvoel hiking Trail
  • Keurkloof
  • Hiking trails in the Montagu Nature Garden

All the hiking trails listed above do not require access through the locked gates in Tanner Street and Barry Street, therefore the gate will remain locked. Hikers using the Cogmanskloof must still exit via the contour path.
