NEW DIRECTOR: FINANCIAL SERVICES (CFO)

Langeberg Municipality is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Ayanda Mati as Director: Financial Services (Chief Financial Officer), reporting directly to the Municipal Manager.

Effective 1 July 2025, Mr Mati will lead the Financial Services Directorate, providing strategic direction and performance oversight. His responsibilities include managing the municipality’s budgeting processes, income and expenditure, activity-based costing, supply chain management, and asset management.

He will also be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of strategies, policies, systems, and performance plans aligned with the strategic objectives of the municipality. Central to his role is maintaining and implementing the municipality’s financial management strategy to ensure long-term financial sustainability towards achieving its overarching goals and integrated development objectives.

Mr Mati holds a BCom Accounting Degree (NQF 7) from the University of the Western Cape (UWC), a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Sciences (NQF 8) from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and has completed the Municipal Finance Management Programme (MFMP). He completed his South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) articles at the Auditor-General of South Africa and is an Associate Member of SAICA. 

He brings over 13 years of experience in the public sector and local government, with expertise in accounting, taxation, audit, good governance, internal controls, compliance and risk management. With in-depth knowledge of the local government financial environment, including the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), Generally Recognised Accounting Practice (GRAP), Treasury Regulations, and Supply Chain Management frameworks.

Mr Mati previously served as Audit Supervisor at the Auditor-General of South Africa and as Chief Audit Executive at the Langeberg Municipality. Since December 2024, he has been acting in the role of Director: Financial Services (CFO).
