EMERGENCY MUNICIPAL LOAD-SHEDDING RELIEF GRANT TO PROCURE BACK-UP ENERGY SUPPLY

The Western Cape Government, via its Department of Local Government, identified certain additional projects to be funded in terms of its Emergency Municipal Load-Shedding Relief Grant for the financial year 2022/23 for the purpose of allocating funding to Municipalities, within the Western Cape Province, to procure and install back-up energy supply as an immediate response to the prolonged load-shedding to mitigate the impact on the provision of basic services.

A total amount of R 350 000 (VAT Inclusive) was allocated to the Langeberg Municipality. The Municipality has decided to purchase a 300KVA generator for the Montagu Water Treatment Works. The Grant Funding received for this purpose is not sufficient and the Municipality is providing an estimated additional amount of R 604 000 (VAT Inclusive) for this purpose.

PROJECT STATUS: Project is in the procurement phase

Tender 15/2023 for the Purchase of a 300KVA Generator for the Montagu Water treatment Works was advertised on 31 March 2023 with closing date of 21 April 2023. The tenders are currently in evaluation phase. The Bid Adjudication Committee is scheduled for the week of 9 June 2023. It is forseen that an award will be made by 4 July. With the aim for complete delivery and implementation by 31 August 2023.
