Langeberg Municipality in collaboration with SEDA hosted an SMME Women's Empowerment Summit at the Robertson Town Hall on 05 October 2023. 

The event was opened by Alderman Schalk van Eeden, Executive Mayor of the Langeberg Municipality that welcomed just over 80 business women from across the Langeberg Municipal area to the information and networking session.

Mr D Lubbe, Municipal Manager of Langeberg Municipality further elaborated on the purpose of the day and the importance of each business owner in our region that contribute to the upliftment of our economy.

Speakers from Seda Western Cape, Productivity SA, National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), SEFA, Women in Tourism, LABIT and Cape Winelands District Municipality presented the various support programmes that are made available to business owners.

After the presentations, participants could engage in one on one sessions with stakeholder exhibitors representing the Department of Agriculture, Productivity SA, National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), Labit and SEFA.

Businesses like Jansens Farming Agriculture and Nikhayas Designs also informed the audience of their experience from support received by the Langeberg Municipality and SEDA.

The day resulted in a wonderful opportunity for women in business to exchange effective business operation ideas, become informed of topical issues in the SMME development, meet possible funding institutions and network to create business opportunities.
