MEET OUR NEW MANAGER: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING SERVICES
Langeberg Municipality is pleased to welcome Mr Daniel Louw as the new Manager: Electrical Engineering Services, effective 1 July 2026.
Daniel brings extensive experience from local government, underground mining and the manufacturing sector. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for the planning, implementation, operation and maintenance of electrical infrastructure, as well as project management, budget control, contract administration, asset management and legislative compliance.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, obtained in 2013, followed by a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2023. In the same year, he also obtained his Government Certificate of Competency (Factories) and is currently in the final stages of registering as a Professional Certificated Engineer (Pr Cert Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
Reflecting on his career, Daniel says the projects he values most are those that have made a lasting difference to communities.
"These include electrical network upgrades that improved supply reliability and increased capacity for future growth, as well as the refurbishment and replacement of ageing infrastructure. Successfully delivering these projects while minimizing service interruptions required careful planning and teamwork."
Daniel says he joined Langeberg Municipality because he wanted to contribute to a municipality committed to quality service delivery and saw an opportunity to strengthen its electrical infrastructure alongside an experienced team.
His immediate focus is to understand the municipality's operational environment by engaging with staff, reviewing ongoing projects, assessing the electrical network and identifying key operational priorities. He believes strong relationships and effective communication are essential to sustainable service delivery.
Daniel leads by example and values respect, accountability, teamwork and continuous learning. He also regards workplace safety as a non-negotiable, ensuring risks are identified before work begins and that employees have the training and resources to work safely.
He believes modern service delivery is proactive, with preventative maintenance, strategic infrastructure investment, efficient fault response and responsible management of municipal resources all contributing to a reliable electricity network.
Speaking about his appointment, Daniel says: "I am grateful for the opportunity to join Langeberg Municipality and look forward to working with my colleagues to build on the good work that is already being done. My goal is to contribute positively to the organisation while helping to provide a safe, reliable and sustainable electricity supply to the communities we serve."
As Manager, Daniel is responsible for overseeing the Electrical Engineering Services Department, managing budgets, personnel, capital projects and contracts, while working closely with other departments to strengthen service delivery across the municipality. Langeberg Municipality wishes Daniel every success, as his experience and technical expertise will support the continued development of Langeberg Municipality's electrical infrastructure and service delivery.
