READY, SET, SWIM! ROBERTSON POOL IS OPEN
The sun is out, the weather is warming up, and the Robertson Swimming Pool is ready for another summer! Located in Dirkie Uys Street, Robertson the pool is the perfect place to cool off, enjoy time with family and friends, or simply spend a relaxing summer day outdoors. There is plenty of grassy space to stretch out, enjoy a picnic, or make use of the designated braai facilities, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The facility includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool that can accommodate +/- 417 swimmers, measuring 50 metres by 25 metres, with a depth ranging from 1 metre at the shallow end to 4 metres at the deep end. There are also two children’s pools, as well as ablution facilities with change rooms and showers.
With space for up to 850 people at the premises, the pool can get busy during the summer season, so visitors are encouraged to arrive early on particularly busy days.
When can you swim?
The swimming pool is open from 10:00 to 18:00, Monday to Saturday, and from 12:00 to 18:00 on Sundays. The pool is closed on the following public holidays:
· Wednesday, 4 November 2026 - Local Government Elections
· Wednesday, 16 December 2026 – Day of Reconciliation
· Friday, 25 December 2026 – Christmas Day
· Saturday, 26 December 2026 – Day of Goodwill
· Friday, 1 January 2027 – New Year’s Day
· Sunday, 21 March 2027 – Human Rights Day
· Monday, 22 March 2027 – Public holiday observed for Human Rights Day
· Friday, 26 March 2027 – Good Friday
· Monday, 29 March 2027 – Family Day
· Tuesday, 27 April 2027 – Freedom Day
The swimming season runs until the end of April, after which the pool will close from 1 May to 30 September 2027, unless unforeseen circumstances require a change to these dates.
What will it cost?
· Entrance Fee per Adult: R 43.00
· Entrance Fee per Child: R 29.00
· Monthly Ticket: R 347.00
· Season Ticket: R 588.00
The pool also caters for schools, swimming clubs and events, with additional fees applicable for galas, school programmes, swimming lessons and lane hire. Sun Protection
The summer sun can be strong, so remember to protect yourself before heading to the pool. Wearing a hat is especially important, particularly if you are walking to and from the pool or spending time outside the water. Sunscreen is also recommended for everyone and should be reapplied regularly, especially after swimming.
Safety first
While the pool is a place for fun and relaxation, safety remains a priority. Pool staff and two lifeguards will be on duty to assist with crowd management and to monitor activities. Swimming is at your own risk, and parents and guardians are reminded that they remain responsible for supervising children.
Pool Rules
For a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please be aware of the following:
· Proper swimwear is required. Jeans, T-shirts, underwear and ordinary clothing are not permitted in the pool.
· No alcohol or glass containers are permitted on the premises.
· No prohibited items are allowed on the premises.
· No running, pushing, rough play or diving in shallow water.
· Food and drinks must be kept out of the pool.
· Excessive noise and loud music, including Bluetooth speakers, are not permitted.
· Bathrooms and cloakrooms must be used responsibly, and any damage must be reported immediately.
· Children must be supervised by a responsible adult.
· All users must comply with instructions from lifeguards and municipal staff.
Failure to comply may result in a warning, removal from the facility or temporary suspension of access. Serious misconduct or damage to municipal property may result in further action.
