TRANSPORTATION OF THE WIND TURBINE COMPONENTS

The components of the wind turbines are transported from Saldanha to the Swellendam area by a logistics company. Voortrekker Street, being a provincial road, requires the necessary provincial approvals for transportation.

The components are loaded onto trucks as they arrive in Saldanha. The arrival of these vessels is influenced by various factors, including sea and wind conditions, as well as harbour traffic.

Therefore, there is no fixed schedule for transporting the wind turbine components.

Langeberg Municipality  receives  notifications as soon as a truck departs from Saldanha. The trucks travel in a convoy and may stop as needed during the journey. When we know that a convoy will be passing through Robertson and Ashton, we share this information on social media.

The good news is that the transportation process through our area takes only 20 to 30 minutes and occurs just once per day. While traffic might be disrupted during this time, the disruption is thankfully brief.
