UPGRADING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN ASHTON AND MONTAGU

Construction is progressing well on the R32.8 million road rehabilitation project in Ashton and Montagu under Tender T45/2025.

The project, undertaken by AMANDLA TESS JV, commenced on 10 March 2026 and is scheduled for completion on 20 October 2026.

Good progress has been made across the various construction sites. The kerbing project in Zolani is expected to be completed by 10 August 2026. Work on Aalwyn Street, Ashton is nearing completion and expected to be finished within the next two weeks.

Construction on the two sections of Barlinka Street in Montagu is on track for completion by the end of August 2026, while upgrading works on Industrial Road, Ashton will commence shortly.

Once completed, the project will improve stormwater management, particularly in Zolani and along Aalwyn Street, while strengthening the road network in key industrial areas to accommodate heavy vehicles transporting goods, thereby supporting continued economic growth.
