WELCOME TO OUR NEW MANAGER

We welcome Mr Marius Moelich to the position of Snr Manager: Administrative Support. Effective from 01 October 2023, Mr Moelich will manage and lead all the divisions of the Administrative Support Department. He will report to the Director: Corporate Services.

The Administration Support departments comprise of property administration, the Thusong Service Centre, council administration, records and archives, the municipal building maintenance teams, the switchboard/receptionist function and procurement of items for the different municipal offices.

Mr Moelich's responsibilities will also include managing the department's finances, interacting with successful tenderers regarding the tender/quotation processes, and coordinating with other departments on pool vehicles, photocopiers, fax machines, and telephone systems.

Mr Moelich graduated from Stellenbosch University with a Magister in Public Administration and an Advance Diploma in Public Administration.

He holds a National Diploma in Local Authority: Finance from RSA Technicon, as well as National Diplomas in Local Government: Finance and Local Government: Administration from the Institute of Trade and Administration. He also possesses the Municipal Minimum Competency qualification (24 modules).

Mr Moelich is a member of IMASA (Institute for Municipal Administrators for Southern Africa) who served as chairperson of the Western Cape branch for six years.

He brings extensive experience to this role, boasting almost four decades in local government. For the past 23 years, he has been an integral part of Cape Agulhas Municipality, serving as Manager Admin Support Services for the past 15 years and previously as Manager of Corporate Services for 8 years.

His background further includes six years at the office of the Auditor General, 13 years as an accountant, and one year as a Deputy Town Clerk.

We are confident that Mr. Moelich's strong work ethic and expertise will significantly enhance municipal systems and business processes, aligning us closer to our municipal goals.

Mr Moelich is well acquainted with all towns of the Langeberg valley, having been born and raised in Bonnievale and matriculated from Bonnievale High School in 1983. He is the proud father of two sons that are now both engineers.

He enjoys being active in the community and served as chairperson of the Bredasdorp High School governing body for 8 years as well as the chairperson of the Bredasdorp tennis club. With his love for sport, he has completed 12 Cape Town Cycle Tours (Argus), he is also involved in the Double Century Bike race, the Foot of Africa Marathon and a Member of Overberg Cycling Committee.
