WELCOME TO THE NEW MANAGER: PARKS AND AMENITIES

We are happy to announce that Ms Vuyolwethu Flepu, has joined Langeberg Municipality as Manager: Parks & Amenities, from the 01 of June 2024.

Ms Flepu graduated from the University of the Western Cape with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology. She completed a BSc Honors Research Project that was published in the Journal of Arid Environments in 2019.

Her previous position for the past 6 years was as Superintendent in the Recreation and Parks Department for the City of Cape Town, after serving four years as the Principal Technical Assistant in the same department. During this time, she served as a Field Ranger for City of Cape Town's Environmental Management Department in the Biodiversity Management Branch.

During her internship, she worked on the South African National Biodiversity Institute's DNA Barcoding of Alien Invasive Species Project in 2012, and later as an Assistant Reserve Manager Intern at the Environmental Management Department of the City of Cape Town's Biodiversity Management Branch.

Ms Flepu report to the Director: Community Services and manages the Langeberg Municipality’s parks, hiking trails, nature reserves, public open spaces and cemeteries.

With an emphasis on environmental hygiene and neatness, her responsibilities include tree management, cleaning and beautifying open spaces, developing and maintaining play parks, and dealing with problem animals, public disturbances and complaints regarding environmental services.

She oversees the Parks and Amenities department’s budget and performs administrative duties including statistics, records, and reporting while managing the Parks and Amenities staff team, vehicle fleet and equipment.

We welcome Ms Flepu's vast experience and skills in planning, organizing, problem solving, workplace safety, and communication.

We look forward to her contribution to the improvement of municipal processes while motivating and inspiring employees to achieve the municipality's shared goals.
