pdf CALL FOR COMMENT: DISASTER RISK REDUCTION PLAN

585 downloads

The Langeberg Municipality hereby invites members of the public to submit comments on a Disaster Risk Reduction Plan, which accompanies this advert, in order to allow implementation of the projects related thereto.

Background and Context

With the Municipality currently experiencing an increase in disaster related incidents in terms of frequency and intensity, there is a need to build capacity and one of those ways is to have and implement the disaster risk reduction plan with consultation with our communities to ensure that there are coordinated efforts towards the handling of disaster related incidents happening in our area.

The Disaster Risk Reduction Plan have already been discussed with the Western Cape Government: Disaster Management Section and the relevant stakeholders operating in the Langeberg Municipal area where all the relevant parties made their inputs in the Langeberg Disaster Risk Reduction Plan.

Need for the Comments to be Made

In the recent years the occurrences of disaster related incidents especially the floods and fires which are covered in the disaster risk reduction plan have increased in frequency and intensity leaving massive destruction in areas where these events have occurred. This has proven that there is a need to step-up our efforts in order to mitigate or prevent where possible, the destruction caused by these disaster related events.

Call for Public Comment

All interested and affected parties are invited to submit written comments, concerns, or suggestions regarding the disaster risk reduction plan

Written or electronic comments must be submitted for the attention of the Municipal Manager by the 17th of July 2026.
