BY–ELECTIONS: WARD 4, HAPPY VALLEY, BONNIEVALE

The Electoral Commission (IEC) – Western Cape will conduct a by-election scheduled for Wednesday 15 October 2025, taking place in Ward 4 Langeberg local municipalities.
The vacancy were caused by the resignations of a councillor in Ward 4, Langeberg.

Ward 4, Langeberg will be contested by FOUR (4) candidates. 1. African National Congress (ANC): Daniël Barranor Baadjies, 2. Democratic Alliance (DA): Rodger Renier Kortjé, 3. Langeberg Independent Party: Errol Justice Vollenhoven, and 4. Patriotic Alliance (PA): JJ Johannes Saolomon Januarie. There are 4 008 registered voters in Ward 4 who are eligible to participate in the by-elections. IMPORTANTLY, only voters who are registered and reside in Ward 4 will be eligible to cast their votes.

Special Votes will take place on Tuesday, 14 October 2025. ONLY voters who applied and have been approved for special voting will be eligible to cast their votes at the voting station on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, from 8am to 5pm. Voters who have applied and have received an approval for a home visit because of their confinement due to health reasons to their residence, will be visited by the IEC staff to cast their votes at any time on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, between 8am and 5pm.

On Wednesday, 15 October 2025, all voting stations will open at 07h00 and close at 21h00. NOTE, all voters in a queue by the cut off time (9pm) will be allowed to cast their votes. Each voter must vote at the voting station of the voting district in which he/she/they is/are registered and must be in possession of either green barcoded ID book, a Smartcard ID, or a valid Temporary Identity Certificate to be allowed to vote.

IEC wishes to remind voters of Ward 4 that they are once again given an opportunity to choose their representative in the Langeberg aMunicipal Councils respectively, and therefore it is important that they participate in the by-elections. Voting is one of the few tools enabling each individual to directly influence public policy. Thus, the IEC would like to urge all eligible voters to go out and vote because voting is one of the easiest ways to make your voice heard.


IEC further calls on all political parties, their candidates, party agents and members to adhere to the Electoral Code of Conduct to ensure that voting takes place in an environment conducive to free and fair elections.
