MUNICIPAL NOTICE: SMOKE AT ASHTON LANDFILL

The Municipality is aware of the smoke coming from the landfill site.  

- The landfill has been covered with sand, and the burning is limited to the working face.  

- Our team, together with machinery, is on site to open and contain the affected area.  

- The fire team is actively assisting, and a fire engine is already deployed.  

It is important to inform residents that individuals entering the site at night have deliberately caused fires. This is linked to their protest against the planned transformation of the landfill into a waste transfer station next year, which will deliver waste to the regional solid waste facility in Worcester.  

Security measures will be immediately arranged to protect the site against ongoing vandalism.
