ASHTON ELECTRICITY OUTAGE UPDATE: 22 SEPTEMBER 2026

Langeberg Municipality is aware that some areas of Ashton are experiencing a second day without electricity. A major power fault occurred, causing the Hoofweg mini-substation to be destroyed. An underground cable fault and other equipment failures have also affected the electricity supply.

Our electrical services teams are working to repair the faults and replace the damaged equipment. A contractor has also been contacted and has offered additional resources to assist with the repairs.

We are aiming to restore electricity before 4 am on 23 September 2026. However, the team cannot confirm a definite restoration time at this stage, as this depends on the progress of the repairs and subsequent testing.
