TEMPORARY TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN DISRUPTIONS IN ROBERTSON
Dear Robertson residents, the Langeberg Municipality will be rehabilitating the existing raw water pipelines in Robertson as part of Tender No.36/2024 – Pipe replacement.
These upgrades are crucial to fix existing pipeline faults, preventing future disruptions or leaks, and enhancing the long-term reliability of water supply.
The work will require a CCTV examination of existing pipelines to be conducted, followed by the installation of a new HDPE pipe into the existing concrete pipeline using sliplining and trenchless techniques.
Because the pipeline runs under roads and across private property, these works may require partial road closures and on-site excavations. Road closures and detours will be controlled, properly signed, and traffic will be regulated. Please follow traffic signage and detours and be prepared to experience temporary travel delays at the following listed areas in Robertson during July to September 2025.
The areas of work include:
- Dirkie Uys Street (include Robertson High School, Robertson Primary School and Robertson Showgrounds)
- Adderley Street, Constitution Street and Voortrekker Avenue (include Robertson Winery)
- Church Street, Eben Donges Avenue and Van Zyl Street (include Robertson East Church)
- Buren Street (include the residential complex)
Please note:
- Driveways and footpaths may be excavated during access works and will be reinstated as soon as possible.
- Noise and equipment will have a moderate impact during working hours.
- The contractor, TRENCHLESS TECHNOLOGIES, staff can be identified by their reflective vests while on-site.
- Working hours is weekdays from 07:30 – 17:00.
- The estimated completion date is scheduled for September 2025.
